The first day I walked into JBM Jiu-Jitsu I was welcomed. Beginning at a new gym is always a strange experience. “Hi, nice to meet you, I’m gonna try to choke you out.” That’s what’s funny about the relationships you make with your training partners especially new ones. It’s important to be humble and respectful. Unfortunately some gyms just make it impossible to fit in. I’ve been to other gyms that are run like a high school click. I’ve seen instructors, knowledge-less, lacking skill and acting more as a detriment to their students rather than a foundation of knowledge and real understanding of the martial arts. When you walk through the doors of a school like JBM you know you’re in the right place. Professor Brian McPherson, a Black Belt under Professor Almeida knows what it takes to run a successful program. Professor McPherson owns and teaches Jiu-Jitsu at JBM and has been a vital part to my advancement in Jiu-Jitsu. To be the best you have to train with the best. As Jiu-Jitsu evolves you must evolve. For me it’s nice knowing every single day I walk into class I’ll have the opportunity to learn something new and that’s what it’s all about. www.jbmbjj.com
